Buttermilk Biscuits

  • 4 c flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 sticks cold butter, diced
  • 1 c. + 2 tbs. buttermilk

Combine all ingredients in a mixer except buttermilk. Mix with a paddle until butter is evenly distributed. Stir in buttermilk on low speed, just until dough comes together. Add a little more if necessary. Turn dough out onto floured surface, fold over 7 times. Roll into 1 inch thickness. Cut with a biscuit cutter.

Bake at 425 for 10-12 minutes.

Yield: 12 biscuits
